SAM QUEK

Liverpool-born Sam Quek has over 120 international caps for the England and Great Britain women’s hockey team, after winning her first cap at the age of 18.

She has an impressive collection of medals including silver from the European and Commonwealth games in 2013 and 2014 and gold from the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. Sam was also awarded an MBE in the 2017 New Years Honours list for services to hockey.

Upon retiring from hockey, Sam moved into TV by appearing on the 2016 series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here. She’s since presented across many sports and entertainment shows, including hosting BBC’s daytime show Morning Live and becoming the first female captain of A Question of Sport in 2021.

Back in 2023 Sam co-hosted the opening ceremony of the Eurovision Song Contest when the contest came to her home city of Liverpool.

Currently she is partnered with Nikita Kuzmin.

Their scoreboard on Strictly so far in 2024:

1.  Week 1: Foxtrot (6+6+6+5) = 23 – an elegant dance which suited Sam well with beautiful choreography from Nikita.

2.  Week 2: Charleston (4+6+6+6) = 22 – fast and furious but also fun though a little low on swivel technique.

4.  Week 3: Paso Doble (7+8+7+8) =30 – a power paso that used a number of basic steps and good technique throughout for week 3.

5.  Week 4: Samba (7+7+7+7) = 28 – never an easy dance but it was certainly a good showing and made us all smile.
