AMY DOWDEN

Amy made history by being the first ever Welsh professional to enter the Ballroom. She made it all the way to the Grand Final in 2019 with celebrity partner Karim Zeroual, and had a strong run to the 2020 Quarter Final with JJ Chalmers. 2021 saw her perform with McFly star Tom Fletcher, but the pair were sent home in Musicals Week and in 2022 she made it to Halloween Week with partner James Bye.

Dowden is a former British National Champion, she’s a four-time British National Finalist and reached the World Championship semi-final in 2015. Amy and husband Ben Jones also have their own dance school, Art in Motion Dance Academy.

Dowden and her partner Ben Jones are former British National Latin Dance Champions. She has the Guinness World Record for the most back-Charleston kick-steps in 30 seconds (2022).

In 2023, Amy had stage three breast cancer after finding a lump in her breast a day before her honeymoon. She underwent a mastectomy, chemo and radiotherapy and in February 2024 she confirmed she had no evidence of disease. She was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 11, but Amy was determined to achieve her ambition to be a professional dancer. She has since then been very vocal about Crohn’s and shares her experience to the media.
